Headteacher announcement

03/06/2020

Dear Parent/Carer

You will no doubt by now, have heard the announcement from Education Minister Kirsty Williams regarding the wider opening of schools. Essentially, the Minister has confirmed the widening of school participation from 29 June and extending the summer term by one week to the 27th July. The half-term in October will be for two weeks. These decisions were taken as a result of scientific advice provided for Welsh government.

It is envisaged that all learners, in small groups to allow for social distancing, will have the opportunity for some contact time before the end of the summer term. This will involve a ‘check in, and catch up’ opportunity. What was made clear is that parents who do not send their children to school will not be fined and that those children who are shielding should carry on with online learning.

Welsh Government will be publishing more guidance next week but as a school we now need to spend the next 3 weeks planning for the return of pupils with their safety and wellbeing at the forefront of all decisions. We will share our plans with you as soon as possible and would ask that, if you have not already done so, you sign up for our parent app as this is how we will communicate individual pupil information. In the meantime, please encourage your children to carry on with their online timetable of learning activities, stay safe and well.

Regards

Mrs Jane Harries
